The short version

VoxInk processes all audio locally on your device. When you use custom templates with cloud processing, PII redaction detects sensitive identifiers locally and replaces them with tokens — the cloud never sees your actual data. We collect only the minimum information needed to manage your license.

What we collect

When you purchase a license, we collect your email address and payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see your card details). We store your license key and usage statistics (word counts only — never the content of your dictation).

We do not collect, transmit, or store your audio recordings, transcription text, or any patient information. By default, all speech-to-text processing happens on your local device.

Optional cloud transcription

VoxInk supports optional cloud transcription providers for improved accuracy if your device lacks the GPU power for local processing. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled in settings.

When PII redaction is enabled on a template, VoxInk uses a local AI model to detect personally identifiable information — names, addresses, phone numbers, and other sensitive identifiers — and replaces them with tokens before your text is sent to the cloud for processing. After the cloud returns the formatted result, real values are restored locally on your device. The cloud AI never sees your actual PII. Audio recordings are never stored by VoxInk regardless of which transcription mode you use.

What we don't collect

  • Audio recordings
  • Transcription text or dictation content
  • Patient health information (PHI)
  • Keystrokes or clipboard contents
  • Browsing or app usage data

Data storage

Your license data is stored on our license server (hosted in Australia). Payments are processed by Stripe. Your dictation data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud transcription. When PII redaction is enabled, sensitive identifiers are replaced with tokens locally before reaching the cloud and restored on your device after.
